<p>Ray Stevens is recovering after suffering a minor heart attack and undergoing surgery in early July</p>

<p>The country star is out of the ICU as of July 8, per an Instagram update</p>

<p>Stevens' performances at the CabaRay Showroom have been canceled through July while he recovers</p>

<p>Ray Stevens is recovering following a minor heart attack and surgery.</p>

<p>The country music star is " in recovery after undergoing minimally invasive heart surgery yesterday morning," pre a press release shared with PEOPLE on Tuesday, July 8. Stevens, 86, "complained of chest pain" on Friday, July 4 and went to a Nashville hospital.</p>

<p>There, he underwent a heart catheterization procedure and found out that the chest pain he suffered was a minor heart attack.</p>

<p>Stevens' surgery was successful. While he recovers this July, the two-time Grammy winner's performances at the CabaRay Showroom in West Nashville have been canceled.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, July 9, Stevens' Instagram account shared a positive update. "Ray is out of ICU and beginning to walk the halls as therapy with a nurse's assistance as he is working towards recovering from this surgery," the caption read.</p>

<p>"Ray is very grateful for all of the cards and get well messages. Everything Is Still Beautiful!!!! ❤️"</p>

<p>Throughout his prolific career, Stevens recorded 45 albums and had six Top 10 hits on the U.S. Pop and Country charts. In his early 20s, he moved to Nashville and worked in many recording sessions playing the piano and serving as an arranger and vocalist.</p>

<p>Some of his most well-known songs are the Grammy-winning "Everything Is Beautiful," "The Streak," "Along Came Jones," "Misty" and "Shriner's Convention."</p>

<p>He was nominated for 12 Grammy Awards throughout his career and won two: Best Contemporary Vocal Performance, Male in 1971 and Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) in 1976.</p>

<p>Stevens opened the CabaRay Showroom in January 2018, branding it as an old-school Vegas-style supper club with music and comedy. "I'd like people to come here to have fun, and I'm hoping we can make that happen," he told The Tennessean ahead of the venue's opening.</p>

<p>He sold over 40 million albums during his decades-long career was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2019.</p>

<p>Per American Songwriter, Stevens announced his retirement in early 2024. "I'll be going to work every day in my recording studio and maybe I'll do a few, a very few, shows in some old familiar places," he said at the time.</p>

<p>"I'm definitely slowing down, but I haven't come to a complete stop. Not yet, anyway."</p>

<p>He then returned to performing to promote his comedy album Ray Stevens….Say Whut?, which came out in March.</p>
