Saturday Night Live's 50th season celebration may have been one big party for some of the show's most iconic figures — but for legendary writer Jim Downey, he admits things went a little awry.

The longtime comedy writer and producer looked back on his SNL50 experience during an appearance on The Tonight Show on Wednesday (Oct. 29) where he revealed that he ended up suffering a pretty intense injury ahead of the weekend.

"I had fallen off the stage at Radio City a few days earlier when I was doing a thing with Bill Murray," Downey explained.

In the hospital, Downey says he was told that he almost lost his eye. Thankfully, it was able to be saved — but he did have to wear an eye patch for some time, including the events the rest of the weekend.

"That was a real eye patch and it was not a Nick Fury kind of thing," Downey said. "So when people were coming up to me all night long going, 'Jesus, the eye patch? Really? It's like Snake Plissken or something.'"

Downey added that everyone quickly changed their tune once he lifted up the eye patch to show them his injury. Since then, Downey appears to have made a full recovery, noticeably not wearing an eye patch during the interview.

During the rest of the show, host Jimmy Fallon recalled some of Downey's most iconic SNL skits which included Patrick Swayze's Chippendales sketch and numerous Weekend Update segments. He also wrote for Dana Carvey when he played George Bush and Will Ferrell when he played George W. Bush.

Downey, who wrote for over 30 seasons of the show, is still the longest tenured writer in the show's history and went on to be a head writer for Late Night with David Letterman.

You can hear all that Jim Downey had to say below.

- Sandra Vergara is the newest real estate agent on *Selling Sunset *season 9.

- The cast member is *Modern Family *star Sofía Vergara's sister by adoption, cousin by birth.

- The newest member of the Oppenheim Group butted heads with costar Chrishell Stause in the season finale.

There's a new agent in town on *Selling Sunset*.

Season 9 hit Netflix on Wednesday, featuring the dramatic ouster of realtor Nicole Young and, shortly after, the introduction of a new member to the Oppenheim Group as Sandra Vergara was added to the crew in episode 6.

As her name — and face — might suggest, Vergara is related to *Modern Family* star Sofía Vergara.

"She's biologically my first cousin, but her mom adopted me so we grew up as sisters," the Colombia native explained on the show, admitting she is just beginning her real estate journey. "People that are close to me were always like, 'Oh my God, you need to do real estate. You'd be killing it.' And hello, here I am."**

Like her famous relative, Vergara has acted, appearing on shows like *CSI, CSI: Miami, Nip/Tuck, *and a six-episode arc on*The Bold and the Beautiful *in 2013. Shared soap opera experience wasn't the only thing Vergara had in common with former *Days of Our Lives *actress and current *Selling Sunset *star Chrishell Stause.**

"You remember when you were on *Dancing With the Stars*? I was an entertainment journalist for *PEOPLE *and I would interview you every week," Sandra revealed to her new coworker, who didn't recall their past meeting.

Things got off to a rocky start on Vergara's first day in the office when she began to ask the group a question and stopped cold as fellow agent Emma Hernan took a phone call, which clearly irritated the newbie.

"You can't be the new person in an office and get frustrated at somebody's phone ringing," Stause warned in a confessional.

The situation grew more awkward between Stause and her newest colleague as the season went on.

In the finale, Vergara admitted to a few other agents that she wasn't "sure if Chrishell likes me," pointing out Stause often made an awkward face around her.

When she went to check out one of Stause's listings, Vergara decided to question her about it directly — and got a shocking answer.

"Have I rubbed you the wrong way in any way or something?" Vergara asked. "It's just a feeling I get. I just feel a bit of resistance."

After some more uncomfortable back-and-forth, Stause pulled out her phone to show Vergara a photo and ask if she knew the person or ever lived in a building with them. After Vergara replied in the negative, the *Traitors* star revealed it was her assistant who'd claimed Vergara once keyed her car.

"I've never keyed anybody's car. Not even an ex," Vergara insisted.

"I was nothing but friendly to you. You wanna try to paint it like I wasn't, that's your prerogative," Stause fired back. "I wait and see how someone moves because this is all my experience with people when they join the office. And I thought it would be different with you, so I am disappointed."

Vergara responded that "the last thing I want is to disrespect you, or to come at you in any way, shape, or form." And in a confessional, she observed that "Chrishell seems like a person who believes everyone's out to get her and I'm not out to get her at all."

They agreed to move on and just focus on the work, but then Vergara started to cry**

"The whole key thing, that was shocking. Like, I've never keyed a car. That's f---ed up. The last thing I want is to have you upset at me. I know you don't want to be mean," she told Stause, swearing she wasn't trying to start drama.

"Honestly, you do have to toughen up a little bit, because at the end of the day, nothing matters except for your success and what you're there to do," Stause advised.

Vergara thanked her for the advice. But when she met up with other cast members later to tell them about the "hiccup," she claimed she asked Stause if there was any other dirt on her and actress said she'd "save it."

Next Wednesday's reunion is set to be spicy!

*"I'm gonna give you a handshake, because I want the hug to be genuine and I don't think I can give that to you right now. But I look forward to hugging you in the future, okay? Take care."*

Now, see, if you had not watched episode 6 of *Survivor 49* and were told that quote was said after the latest Tribal Council vote, you would assume it was uttered by the person who had just been blindsided into oblivion and was bitter at an alleged ally for brutally cutting short their reality television hopes and dreams. BUT NO! You'd be wrong! So wrong.

Instead, in a complete flip the script moment, that quote was uttered by the *blindsider* in question, Sage, who refused to hug the disposed of Shannon. The interaction was made even more awkward by the fact that Shannon was already standing right there with arms wide open in anticipation of a warm, cleansing embrace. But Sage essentially struck a Heisman Trophy pose, stiff-arming Shannon from any sort of reconciliation.

After a series of ho-hum eliminations — and, honestly, a pretty ho hum Tribal Council this week leading into the vote — we finally had a smidgeon of spice back in our *Survivor* meal. Even if I don't believe Sage was even trying to be spicy. All season long, the thing Sage has prized most is authenticity. We've seen it in the way she freely lets her freak flag fly talking about pee, poo, and her horror movie jar of blackheads. We've also seen how negatively she reacts when she watches someone she believes is being inauthentic. And that someone has been Shannon.

The eye rolls while giving Shannon hugs (before hugs were banned). The barf motions after Shannon would turn her back. The funky facial expressions as Shannon would go on and on about something wavy gravy and hippy drippy. They were all total *Survivor* money shots and immediate GIF gifts for the viewing audience — every one of them. *Survivor* editors had to be high-fiving themselves every time one of them showed up on their monitors.

Sage could have stopped there and given Shannon her consolation hug after winning the day by turning the tribe vote against her. It would have been so easy. No muss, no fuss. But that's not Sage. Sure, in the game, you have to hug people you don't want to hug or else you'll be the first person voted out, but once they *are* voted out, hugs become optional, and Sage opted out.

Why? Because Sage wasn't feeling it. And for her, that was enough of a reason. As much as I really, really, really want to believe that Sage meant this as a huge f--- you gesture and was about to morph into *Survivor* supervillain mode and burn everything down, I think it just comes down to exactly what she said — wanting there to be actual authenticity in the act.

You could tell how much of not only Shannon's perceived fakeness was grinding her gears, but how much of Sage's *own* fakeness in having to act sweet and nice and sisterly with the woman who floated her name was wearing on her. So the second she could put an end to said fakeness, she did. Which also explains her comment of "I can breathe" after Shannon walked out of Tribal Council.

But here's the thing. While Shannon was certainly being fake in doing what every other *Survivor* player in history has done by acting nice to someone she was planning to vote out at one point, I actually don't think she was being super inauthentic in general. The Shannon I saw talking about God and spirituality and meditation at Kele 2.0 was the same Shannon I experienced in my pre-game interview with her the day before the game began. Was she playing it up a bit to help make social connections in the game? I SHOULD HOPE SO! That's what *Survivor* is!

I guess what I'm saying is that knowing Sage and what she values most in human interactions, I can see why she was annoyed. Here was a person acting like they were kissy-kissy soul sisters while simultaneously floating her name. But I also don't think Shannon was doing anything completely un-Shannon like, and any modulating she *did* do is what any strong *Survivor* player *should* do. Now, whether you enjoy that Shannon-like behavior or it annoys you is another question entirely, but it all felt very undeniably Shannon to me.

Speaking of which, when it comes to game, I was *waaaaaay* off on Shannon in one respect. After speaking with her pre-season, I thought she would be a kooky character completely oblivious to the underhanded machinations of the game as she led meditation sessions on the beach. I mean, I was right about the meditation sessions, but wrong about pretty much everything else as she was playing the game and playing it hard. (Too hard, some might say.)

Even though she played it off as well as one could, I'm guessing Shannon was super confused about why Sage wouldn't hug her, and I look forward to asking her all about when we chat on Thursday morning. But for now, let's hug it out and recap everything else that went down on episode 6 of *Survivor 49.*

A second switcheroo

If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again. Seeing as how the first tribe swap failed to shake anything up and gave us two more obvious telegraphed votes, the producers decided to blow it all up again and expand back to three tribes. And here's where we ended up.

**KELE 3.0****Steven**Shannon**Sage**Jawan****KEY TAKEAWAY:** Thank you, *Survivor* gods for keeping Sage and Shannon on the same beach. This entire swap would have been a disaster of massive proportions had those two not remained chained together. And it's why having three original Hina and only one Uli was not an obvious death sentence for Steven.

**ULI 3.0 **(although I guess technically 2.0 since there was no Uli 2.0)**Sophie**Kristina**Alex**Nate****KEY TAKEAWAY:** And thank you, *Survivor* gods for not having Uli lose the immunity challenge, which would have led to yet another super obvious vote, this time of my preseason pick to win it all, Nate. (Unless Sophie was actually serious about taking out one of her own in Kristina. I'm not convinced she was.)

**HINA 3.0****MC**Sophi**Rizo**Savannah****KEY TAKEAWAY:** Our ultimate result would have been for Hina to lose and then see what would have happened with MC looking for her immunity idol, and then following what the power trio of Rizo, Savannah, and Sophi would have done had she found it. Would Rizo have played his idol? Would they have tried to convince MC not to use hers? Would Savannah and Rizo loaded up votes on Sophi as insurance? At least for how it would have played out this week, we'll never truly know.

Down goes Mills! Down goes Mills!

This week's reward challenge was a solid one in that it introduced some new tweaks and variations to stages we have seen before, with players having to knock discs off poles (be careful saying that 10 times fast) and then use those discs to knock over four bamboo statues.

Rizo won his tribe grilled cheese sandwiches and iced tea with his disc-throwing prowess, but what was of even bigger note — sorry to gloss over your athletic success, R-I-Z-G-O-D — was what happened before and after the competition.

I don't know if Kristina was feeling faint or having a panic attack or what. And lord knows I am no Dr. Barry, so I will not attempt to diagnose through my TV screen while halfway through a Milwaukee's Best light courtesy of Nick Caruso. But it was another insightful reminder as to the absolute anxiety that *Survivor* can inspire at pretty much any moment. "It's just been a lot today, Uncle Jeff," Kristina explained of needing medical attention after breathing heavy and sitting down on her tribe mat. "I really miss my kids, I miss my husband, and then it's like everything hits at once."

And the next person it hit was none other than… JEFF PROBST! The Hostmaster General was doubled over in exhaustion at the end of the challenge, leading Rizo to the line of the week, telling Probst, "Welcome to *Survivor*." That almost makes up for the confessional interview done with a snorkel in his mouth. *Almost.*

This just in: Sophi eats food

A few notable events were happening at the new Hina beach. For one thing, for the first time all season, Sophi got to eat actual food! On day 11! Don't worry, I'm not going to go on and on about how hard the new era is because I honestly don't really care *at all* if the new era is easier or harder than the old era. I really don't! Like, on the scale of things I care about, it is somewhere in between what color baseball cap Jeff Probst wears to a challenge (which I care more about) and the general existence of the Shoe Bandit alter ego (which I could not have cared less about). But still, 10 days with no real food suuuuuuuuuuuucks.

Of course, this was an excellent episode for Sophi beyond mere grilled cheese consumption. She also found a Knowledge is Power advantage. Not only did she find it, but she did what every single *Survivor* viewer yells at players to do when they find idols or advantages. Stick it in your underwear? No, although that is often the only option. Rather, Sophi refrained from immediately blabbing about her advantage to Savannah and Rizo, keeping the discovery all to herself. If only more players would follow her lead.

But Sophi was not the only member of Hina 3.0 to do something smart, so let's make like FTD and keep passing out flowers. As the clear outsider on Hina 3.0, MC made a strong play in telling Rizo that she knew about his immunity idol. For one thing, she possibly banks some honesty points with him for later on. But even if she does not do that, MC at least carves out some potential cracks in original Uli between Rizo and Sage, whom she outed as telling them all about his idol. And I think we all know what that means: NO HUG FOR YOU LATER, MC!!!

An actual Sophie with an E sighting!

Kinda weird that arguably the best episode of the season featured not one, but *two* extended scenes of players fishing, but whatevs. Personally, I was more intrigued by the excellent editing choice to show Nate being so proud of himself for deceiving his new original Uli tribe members by claiming he was trying to work with Jason… and then immediately following it with shots of everybody else later saying how that didn't buy any of it. Classic.

But that didn't mean that all the original Ulis were fully aligned. Sophie (who is a person that I swear is on this season, contrary to all the evidence otherwise) had some key scenes — FINALLY! — that gave some perspective as to how she has viewed her position in the tribe. She was "livid" that Kristina threw her name out as the decoy vote to make Nate feel comfortable, telling us, "I'm tired of being on the bottom of all these alliances."

Sophie was hoping to continue making a connection with Alex, but knew there was some work to be done to become his true number one. "His closest person out here is the other Sophi," she told us. "I can be his new Sophie! Screw other Sophi! I am the new Sophie!"

See, *that's* the Sophie with an E that I know from not one but two pre-game interviews. We chatted when she was the female alternate for season 48, and then again before 49, and I remember both times thinking how great she would be giving confessionals on the show because she was not afraid to give bold opinions (like when we saw her diss and dismiss fruit as a reward feast item) and be a little spicy with her comments. She also opened up to me a lot about her feelings right after the *Survivor 48* cast photo happened, essentially signaling she had not made the cast.

I thought she would be a breakout star and so have been super surprised that she has been so under-edited. I mean, that happens when your tribe literally wins every single immunity challenge, but still, Sophie's got the goods, and she proved it a bit here this week.

Shannon's last stand

Am I the only one who knew the second that Probst said "It seems an impossible comeback" about Uli 3.0's slim chances to make up time on the immunity challenge table maze that Nate and Sophie would pull it out and avoid Tribal Council? I mean, challenges like this are practically designed for huge comebacks, but they're still always fun to watch. Especially after Kristina struggled so mightily to build her wooden pole and retrieve the key.

Couple that with Jawan and Sage's struggles on the table maze, and the comeback was complete (after Hina 3.0 had already dominated, of course), meaning Kele 3.0 was heading to Tribal Council.

First off, can I ask a question? Does Jawan smell? I mean, they *all* smell out there, but does Jawan spell particularly bad? Because why else would everyone want to get rid of the dude? He seems totally genial and harmless and fun, just nerding out and making lots of horror movie analogies. What's the problem?

Savannah wanted him out for taking her bag and water bottle. Okay, fair. But Shannon? She just watched her Uli allies take out two Hinas, and now instead of following suit, she wanted to eat one of her own in Jawan? Seems odd. Not as odd as Jawan initially wanting to keep Shannon after hearing she was gunning for him because he was worried about upsetting Rizo, Savannah, and Nate (Who cares? She said your name first!), but odd nonetheless.

Shannon's big miscalculation was not realizing that Steven was super duper wary of her and wanted nothing to do with "Shark Shannon." He saw what I failed to see in our pre-game interview: that Shannon was a gamer who would do whatever it took to get to the end. Combine that with two Uli members whose names Shannon had thrown out, and it was curtains for the wellness specialist from Boston.

She took her blindside about as well as anyone could in her situation, repeatedly telling the tribe mates that ditched her "nothing but love," and telling the host who snuffed her torch "nothing but grateful." But it also had to hurt. There's a split second where you can see it, right as the second vote for Shannon is read. The otherwise sunny disposition on her face takes a serious hit in that moment, but by the time the deciding vote is read immediately after, she's already recovered.

Which is honestly too bad, because you all know I always prefer a BURN IT ALL DOWN response to being blindsided. It's just way more entertaining. You also want to see from your contestants how much it *matters* to them, and to witness such expressions of pain and anger and hurt in the moment where it all comes crumbling down validates that players are taking this as seriously as we want them to. Shannon didn't give us that, but if she is truly at peace with how everything went down, then more power to her. Me? I would have been a mess. (Just another reason why I also would never go on this show.)

Okay, that's about it, but you know we've got parting gifts for you. If you missed the entire *Survivor 49* cast revealing their secret *Survivor* crushes, then do yourself a favor and go check them out IMMEDIATELY! We'll also hear from Hostmaster General Jeff Probst on the latest episode and hit you up an exclusive deleted scene. Finally, we hugged it out with Shannon in the form of an exit interview, so go get all the scoop there on what happened when Sage and Shannon reunited off camera. In the meantime, hold on to your snorkeling gear, and I'll be back next week with another scoop of the crispy!

**This article contains spoilers from the *Love Is Blind* season 9 reunion.**

*Love Is Blind* season 9 can't stop making history. Not only is this the first season to feature no marriages in the finale, but it's also the first reunion to debut a baby from one of the current cast members.

Yes, you read that right — there's already a season 9 baby. And somehow, that wasn't the most shocking development from the extra-long reunion.

Read on to find out all the biggest revelations from the *Love Is Blind *season 9 reunion.

A step too far

Whoever designed this outdoor reunion set did not think through making all the women walk down tall stone steps in long dresses and high heels. While the set looked pretty, it made everyone's entrance feel extra awkward, drawn-out, and downright dangerous. Plus, the audience looked freezing in their blankets.

Sparkle Megan admitted she wishes she would have given Jordan "grace" to "get there eventually" when it came to their lifestyles differences, but she was "scared" that she wasn't getting the full picture before marriage. Meanwhile, Jordan clarified he only said he regretted introducing Megan to Luka because of his age, and a five-year-old just needs stability — Jordan claimed it had "nothing to do" with Megan, and that he was referencing more joining the show at large and bringing Luka into it.

Now Jordan is "casually" dating but not looking for anything serious, because he's not ready to introduce anyone else to Luka.

Baby Sparkle

While this was spoiled online a week prior, Sparkle Megan revealed she's a mom now. She welcomed Brooks, a baby boy, a little over two months ago with her partner Paul (who was in the reunion audience) and said that she couldn't be happier with her new family. She revealed she met Paul three months after the show finished filming, and got pregnant three months into dating — which might actually rival the accelerated *Love Is Blind* timeline.

What was more shocking was that Jordan already knew Megan's news because "a disgusting person" reached out to him on social media "trying to stir the pot." He reached out to Megan immediately and she told him everything. He was happy to learn about it before the reunion. The only other pod squad person who knew about Megan's pregnancy was ... Kacie?! The other women were absolutely shocked — especially Ali.

Rekindled flames

Jordan revealed that Mike and Megan dated for a short time after the show finished filming. It was Mike who reached out to Jordan to break the news to him, and Jordan told him, "No hard feelings." However, Megan felt no spark in person with Mike, so that ended quickly. She also went out with Blake a few weeks after ending things with Jordan so that he could "formally apologize" for ghosting her. Jordan vouched for Blake as being "such a good person" — and Blake only showed up at the very end of the reunion to deliver protein ice cream to Jordan, since it happened to be his birthday.

Ali

Making it right

Jordan revealed that Mike DMed him to apologize for the insensitive (and incorrect) comments he made in the pods about diabetes and Luka. He also made "a large donation" to a diabetes charity after the episodes came out to make up for his ignorance, and Jordan was glad to clear the air on that.

Of course, the question of who would keep the ring that Patrick proposed to Kacie with came back up. Ali pointed out that it shouldn't matter that Kacie kept it, because Netflix provided the rings (which is what creator Chris Coelen told **) — it's not like Patrick paid for it. Kacie claimed Patrick told her she could keep the ring during their hotel lobby conversation, but Patrick said that was only because he thought they would continue their engagement off the show.

Patrick and Kacie rehashed their back-and-forth texting after getting home, and how Kacie wouldn't have a conversation with him immediately about the status of their relationship. Patrick just wanted Kacie to apologize at the reunion so he would "wipe the slate clean," and although it took her a while, she finally said she was sorry and offered the ring to Patrick. He accepted it, along with the apology. But she also continued to point out how she was Patrick's "distant" second choice to Anna, which he disagreed with.

Kacie also brought up how Patrick jokingly called Kacie his "ex-wife" during their first face-to-face meeting (which was at a party with all the cast members) after their hotel lobby conversation. He thought it was funny. She did not.

As for who actually kept the ring, that changed multiple times throughout the reunion. Chris Paul from the LA Clippers showed up to host a free throw shoot-out between Kacie and Patrick to see who would keep the ring, which Kacie won. And while Patrick joked that he would give her the ring when they're back in Denver, he then passed it back to her onstage, so Kacie went home with it.

Kacie revealed she and Joe "went on dates" for about a month and a half after the show ended, which Madison clearly hated, as evidenced by her facial expressions. Joe said it ultimately "fizzled out."

Madison believed their connection affected her engagement, but Joe laughed and said that wasn't true. She was pissed that she found out about Joe and Kacie at Mike's pool party when Kacie told her that they're "eskimo sisters" (a slang term that means they had both slept with the same person). Madison slammed Kacie for being a "class act." Kacie claimed she was upset about the way Joe treated her, and not the fact that he was dating someone new already. And Kait is now friends with Joe's current girlfriend as well as Madison, and said it's not actually that awkward for her.

But wait, there's more! Joe and Madison actually hooked up once after their breakup — they went out to discuss why their relationship ended so Madison could get closure, but ended up making out when he walked her to her car after. She said Joe teared up afterwards, and he said it was because the emotions were still fresh for him.

Dropping love bombs

When Kait joined the cast onstage, Nick apologized to her for using religion to "control" the situation during their pod breakup. But Kait said he only apologized to her on camera, or in private after he learned she was going to the reunion. So she didn't believe his apology was ever genuine. She also said that she didn't believe Nick wanted a wife; she believed he only "wanted an audience." When Nick apologized again for "love-bombing" her in the pods, Kait said that it's all just performative. That's when Annie jumped in to defend Nick, and she said they're "friendly" today.

There were a lot of apologies flying during the reunion, because Joe apologized to Nick after seeing the pod squad meetup and how he talked badly about him. Nick said "there's no bad blood" between them, and he understood that it's because Joe and Brendan are friends.

Speaking of Brendan, while he wasn't at the reunion, he sure was talked about a lot. Kait is single now, but she revealed that she and Brendan dated "very briefly" after filming because they connected in the pods. But Kait said it was "messy" when everyone got back to Denver, with everyone dating everyone, and revealed that after she told Kacie about her date with Brendan, she saw him being "all over" Kacie the next night. "That is so not even true," Kacie responded. "That is so false, it's not even funny."

The elephant in the room

When it was time to hear from Anton and Ali, there was a major blind spot that was never brought up: Anton's drinking habits. Somehow Ali was never asked about, and it wasn't mentioned at all. They did talk about Anton's history of going to strip clubs, however. Anton slammed his friend's girlfriend, Melissa, for what she said about his partying at strip clubs, because he claimed they had only met a few times before that brunch. He thought she just wanted 15 minutes of fame and didn't know him at all. And Ali said she never spoke to Anton about it afterwards, and admitted that it's strange that she never confronted him about that when it clearly mattered to her a lot.

And while Ali didn't reveal her current relationship status, she said she was very happy for Anton, who revealed he's been in a relationship for a year with a woman named Miranda (who was in the audience).

Edmond

Say something nice

As for the final couple, Kalybriah brought literal notes to read from at the reunion to make sure she didn't miss anything. She said she couldn't see Edmond's body language in the pods when she fell in love with him. But in the real world, she realized his nonstop crying and overall behavior was all manipulation based on how he acted towards her off camera vs. on camera. Edmond said he didn't want to manipulate anyone, and was just speaking from his heart.

But Kalybriah was really upset that they always got into a fight right before filming, and then he would act like nothing had happened, so she always appeared as a stereotypical "angry Black woman." She revealed that she even brought that fear to Edmond off camera. Edmond claimed he didn't remember a lot of what she was bringing up, and felt hurt that she only remembered the bad times.

In a rare moment of impressive hosting, Vanessa Lachey pointed out that Edmond's traumatic childhood and upbringing might result in him only focusing on the positive memories and blocking out any negative memories as a coping mechanism. It all led to Kalybriah and Edmond hugging it out onstage.

And with that, another season of *Love Is Blind *is officially over!

With all the tribe switching and tribe contracting and tribe expanding going down on *Survivor 49*, it's been a bit difficult to keep track of who is on what beach, and who exactly is on that beach with them.

This week's episode of *Survivor 49* once again shuffled the deck, going back to three tribes while also mixing up the contestants on each… just for funsies. After the latest switcheroo, original Hina tribe members Sophie Segreti and Kristina Mills found themselves on Uli 3.0, joined by a double dose of Moores — Nate and Alex.

Being on a tribe of just four people is super scary. If you lose an immunity challenge, you have a 25 percent chance of being voted out, and even if you think you have the numbers to stay, a stray advantage or immunity idol can potentially take you out with a single vote. Like I said, scary.

So the new Uli tribe could be excused for feeling a bit nervous upon receiving an ominous day 12 Tree Mail message about an upcoming immunity challenge, and you can see their reaction in the exclusive deleted scene above.

After heading to the Tree Mail station, Nate reads the parchment to the rest of the tribe: "Brains and brawn must galvanize, and most certainly maintain composure. If you don't possess finesse and vision, your flames all risk exposure."

Naturally, the tribe then all attempts (unsuccessfully) to decipher the clues as to what kind of competition they will be facing, but Alex lays it all out for us in a confessional interview in terms of what is at stake.

'Survivor 49' recap: Turning Tribal Council into a No Hugs zone

Alex Moore and Jeff Probst on 'Survivor 49'

"The new Uli tribe checks Tree Mail and we know we're going to battle today," he explains. "This immunity challenge is do or die. We have to win."

I mean… do you? Couldn't you just get second place and be all good? Isn't that the way the three-tribe format works?

But Alex doesn't want to hear that type of resigned loser talk! He is all in and ready to take no prisoners! (NOTE: Taking prisoners on *Survivor* is not allowed.) "The Tree Mail talks about brains and brawn, and I think we have both," he argues. "So I'm really feeling good about today and just hoping we can pull out a win, because I have to be here. I have been fighting too hard to go home now, so I'm ready for it. And I'm ready to go to battle."

And he's not the only one! Kristina and Sophie both proclaim that "We gotta go for first." Good for you! Of course, they would *not* get first. In fact, they were extremely fortunate to not get *last* after going into the final table maze at a huge time deficit. But like we tried to tell Alex, second place is fine! Embrace average competence!
