Paul Mescal spoke to PEOPLE about his salt-and-pepper hair, sharing that he's had grays since he was 18

"I've always liked it," the actor says of his look

Mescal has been spotted with noticeable grays over the last few months

Paul Mescal is embracing his grays.

At The History of Sound premiere in New York City on Tuesday, Sept. 2, the actor, 29, set the record straight about his "new" salt-and-pepper look.

"It's not new. It's been here for a while," he told PEOPLE exclusively.

Mescal explained that he often dyes his hair for roles such as his portrayal of William Shakespeare in his upcoming film Hamnet.

"I've always liked it... I've had salt and pepper hair since I was, like, 18," he said. "It's been just covered for a lot of the time."

Earlier this summer, the Normal People actor was spotted with noticeable grays while attending the Wimbledon final in London. During the men's championship match between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz on July 13, he was seated next to his All of Us Strangers costar Andrew Scott, as well as Keira Knightley.

Mescal opted for a navy blue suit with a striped shirt, both by Carter Young, and a colorful printed tie. He also wore a black leather watch and a pair of black sunglasses.

The star had slowly been letting his grays come in for a few months. At the Cannes Film Festival in May, he appeared on the red carpet for the premiere of The History of Sound in a simple all-black look and a few of his silver strands showing through.

He also sported a subtle salt-and-pepper look while spending time with his girlfriend, Gracie Abrams, at the Glastonbury Festival.

At the N.Y.C. premiere of The History of Sound, Mescal opened up about choosing queer roles. In the film, the actor plays Lionel Worthing, a talented singer from rural Kentucky who leaves his family farm to attend the Boston Music Conservatory. There he meets student David White (played by Josh O'Connor) and the pair develop an intimate relationship, per a synopsis.

"I think I'm drawn to characters regardless of their sexuality," Mescal shared. "I think, like, I'm learning more and more as I kind of do this job that, unless I have something to say about who these people are, unless I fundamentally know or have a distinct opinion about them, I won't do it."

"I love Lionel," he said of his character in the film. "He's the longest I've lived with any character. I've waited five years to get to play him, and I'm so grateful that I did. I think he's an extraordinary man."

Mescal shared that acting with his close friend O'Connor, 35, as lovers in the film "didn't make things awkward" and described filming together as a "fun" summer camp-like experience.

"I think because the subject matter is generally quite heavy. Josh and I, for whatever reason it was, just kind of rallied against that as much as we could," he said. "It was pretty light offset. It's like one of the best jobs in the world. When you get paired with a friend of yours already that you admire so much … it's kind of like a summer camp, getting to hang out with your friend ... So it was fun."

Howard Stern's radio comeback was delayed due to the shock jock mourning his beloved rescue cat, according to new claims.

RadarOnline.com can reveal the veteran broadcaster, 71, canceled his long-awaited return to the The Howard Stern Showafter Bud passed away, leaving both Stern and wife Beth devastated.

Cat Trauma

He was supposed to be back on the airwaves on September 2 until the "family emergency" struck which according to Rob Shuter, centered around Bud's death.

A pal told Shuter: "Howard is crushed. He adored Bud.

"Beth is distraught. She saved this stray, nursed him back to health, and he became their everything.

"Losing him has left them shattered."

Stern and Beth have rehomed thousands of stray cats, but Bud was extra special as he was the one they kept themselves.

And his death has left a "gaping hole" in their lives.

Another insider said: "This isn't just a pet.

"Bud was family. Howard can't sit in front of a mic and laugh when his heart is breaking."

'More That Just A Pet'

Bud was special to Stern and Beth as he was a rescue cat they kept, rather than help rehome.MEGA

The tragedy comes as Stern faces a pivotal moment in his long career.

His $500million SiriusXM deal expired this fall, sparking speculation he might walk away but the veteran star secretly signed a new contract.

"Howard will be back — it's done," says a source. "But right now, his focus is Beth and grieving Bud."

However, ex-staffer Steve Grillo claims Stern will struggle stopping his falling ratings which are now down to 125,000 a day, compared to 20million in his pomp.

He believes his older fans have deserted him, given how much he's changed his style.

Ratings Worry

An ex-staffer predicts Stern will struggle to claw back ratings.MEGA

Grillo believes Stern alienated many of his audience when he slammed supporters of Donald Trump during a broadcast in September 2024.

Not only sharing he didn't agree with Trump's political views, Stern said he "hated the people who vote for him," and that he thought they were "stupid," and he had "no respect" for them.

"People listened to whatever he said, and those people were the hard-working people that wanted a change in this country and made him famous and made him rich," Grillo said.

"And he turned his back on them by saying, 'If you like a certain political person, I don't want you listening to my show'…That's why he's got 125,000 listeners.

"People cared about what he said every single day, and then he turns on them…What kind of arrogance and stupidity is that?"

Stern is envious of Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper.@alexandracooper;Instagram

Meanwhile Stern, whose return is now scheduled for next week, is also allegedly unhappy with SiriusXM podcast darling Alex Cooper, the host of Call Her Daddy.

A source said: "She's the one that bugs him.

"She gets hundreds of millions of hits, she has this mega $125million deal, and he hates that this young bubbly woman is the big new thing."

Will Power needed just one day to close the door on his 17-year career with Team Penske with the announcement Wednesday that he will replace Colton Herta at Andretti Global next season.

The two-time IndyCar champion and former Indianapolis 500 winner will drive the No. 26 Honda for Andretti as Herta moves to Europe to be part of the debut season of the Cadillac Formula 1 team as a test driver.

"This is a whole new chapter for me," Power said. "I have to say that sometimes a change of scenery and a fresh start is very energizing. I can't wait."

The decision to leave Penske was technically Power's as he grew weary of being strung along for the entire 2025 season by Roger Penske. The team refused to negotiate on an extension until after the Australian scored the first IndyCar win for the organization this season last month, and by that time he felt slighted and cornered into negotiating what would likely be a one-year deal.

He made the decision to move on to another team and found the softest landing spot possible at Andretti, which is shuffling Herta off to Europe in the hopes Herta can earn the super license he needs to be eligible to compete in F1.

Power becomes the most veteran and winningest driver at Andretti, where he will join Indianapolis 500 winner Marcus Ericsson and Kyle Kirkwood in a three-car lineup. He enters at a time new team owner Dan Towriss is trying to rebuild Andretti Global into an IndyCar powerhouse.

"I want to thank Colton Herta for all the great memories and success he brought to Andretti Global during his time with the team. We're incredibly proud of him and wish him the best in his new F1 journey," said Jill Gregory, COO of TWG Motorsport and president of Andretti Global.

"We couldn't think of a better driver than Will Power to fill Colton's shoes here at Andretti and take the wheel of the No. 26 Honda. Will is a fierce competitor whose record speaks for itself. Additionally, he's a great personality and we feel he'll be a strong fit for the team culturally as well."

Power brings over 20 years of record-breaking IndyCar experience to Andretti. He passed Mario Andretti as IndyCar's best qualifier with 71 poles. His 45 career victories rank fourth on the IndyCar win list. He has won at least one race a season every year but 2023, the year his wife almost died from a staph infection.

Power turns 45 at the start of the next season and is expected to be replaced by Penske in the No. 12 by 23-year-old David Malukas.

Even though Power's contract concluded after Sunday's season finale at Nashville Superspeedway, Team Penske is holding on to Power through Dec. 31 and he won't be cleared to work for Andretti until the start of 2026.

Despite the delay in the fresh start after an anxious season of uncertainty, Power is looking forward to his next opportunity.

"I just want to say how excited I am to be joining Andretti Global. I can't thank Dan, Jill and the team enough for this opportunity," Power said. "Colton is someone that I've been massively impressed with for a while. He has a lot of natural ability, and I think he's going to do a great job over in Europe. I'm excited to watch him and will work to step in and do everyone on the 26 team proud.

"I'm really looking forward to meeting all the Andretti team and getting to work in 2026. They have some very smart people, and I know it will be enjoyable to get to winning. I'm also looking forward to driving for Honda."

The move is a blow for General Motors, which has achieved tremendous success with Power in its lineup and now loses a driver to Honda who gave Chevrolet one of its four victories this year in a 17-race season.

Power a year ago won three races and was mathematically eligible for the championship at the finale. But that wasn't enough to get Penske motivated to work on an extension until Power felt so slighted he didn't want to return to the organization and suffer through the same uncertainty next year while competing in a one-year contract.

When do World Cup tickets go on sale? How to sign up for presale draw

Looking to buy tickets to FIFA World Cup 2026? Here's everything you about the first wave of ticket sales.

The presale draw is the first of four phases for ticket buying for the World Cup – set for June 11 to July 19, 2026.

The "Visa Presale Draw" begins Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. ET and will end on Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. ET, allowing fans worldwide (who are Visa cardholders) to register to buy World Cup tickets.

FIFA says the draw will be randomized, and eligibility will be established with a no-value transaction. Fans can go to FIFA.com/tickets to sign up.

On Sept. 29, applicants will be notified if their application was successful.

From Oct. 1 to Oct. 21, ticket buyers will be issued a dedicated date and time slot to purchase their World Cup tickets.

Ticket buyers will be issued a ticket in a category seating range, based on the 17 different World Cup venues across the three countries. Specific seats will be assigned later.

After the presale, FIFA says multiple additional ticket phases will launch in the coming months.

"Get your tickets early, especially if you know where you'll be because you live in that city or you're a fan of the three hosting nations. You know already when and where they'll play. Get your tickets early, because anything can happen," FIFA World Cup 26 chief operating officer Heimo Schirgi said during a Sept. 2 media briefing.

While the World Cup match schedule is already set, the matchups not featuring host nations will be determined following the FIFA World Cup draw on Dec. 5.

The United States (Group D) will play group stage matches in Los Angeles on June 12, 2026, in Seattle on June 19, 2026, and Los Angeles again on June 25, 2026.

Mexico (Group A) will play in the World Cup opening match at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on June 11, 2026. They will also play on June 18 in Guadalajara and June 24 in Mexico City.

Canada (Group B) will play group stage matches in Toronto on June 12, 2026, and Vancouver on June 18, 2026 and June 24, 2026.

The World Cup final will be played at MetLife Stadium on July 19, 2026.

Here's everything you about the FIFA World Cup presale draw

What do fans need to participate in the Visa Presale Draw?

Prospective World Cup ticket buyers need to sign up for a FIFA account, and have a Visa payment card. After Oct. 21, fans will be able to buy World Cup tickets with other payment methods.

How many tickets will be available during the presale draw?

FIFA will have approximately 1 million tickets for sale during the Visa Presale Draw phase.

What is the cheapest and most expensive World Cup ticket going to cost?

FIFA says the lowest price ticket for group stage matches will be $60 USD, while the most expensive ticket price for the World Cup final will be set at $6,730 through each ticket purchasing phase. However, dyanmic pricing could affect how much those prices could fluctuate based on demand.

What kind of World Cup tickets will fans be able to purchase?

Fans will be able to purchase three different types of tickets:

Single match tickets: Tickets for a specific match at any venue.

Venue specific tickets: A package that includes several matches at the same venue.

Team specific tickets: A package that includes three group-stage matches of each team in the tournament. This includes qualified and non-qualified teams. If you purchase tickets for a country that does not qualify, you will be refunded.

What you about World Cup ticket categories:

There are four categories of World Cup tickets available to purchase, reflective of the level seating areas in World Cup venues. FIFA will provide maps of each stadium venue, explaining the ticket categories.

Category 1: Level 100, closest to the pitch.

Category 2: Level 200.

Category 3 and Category 4: Level 300 or higher.

How many World Cup tickets can you buy?

FIFA says a ticket buyer can purchase up to four tickets per match, for up to 10 matches, 40 tickets in total.

Where can you buy resale World Cup tickets?

FIFA will also launch its own resale platform for ticket holders to safeguard fans against invalid or unauthorized resale tickets. Note: Ticket resellers outside of Mexico will be able to set their own resale prices.

"We are not capping the FIFA resale platform in terms of ticket prices. Obviously, people would go to other resale platforms and would try to find other ways of reselling the ticket, which obviously is something we don't want," Schirgi said.

"We want to keep a safe and secure, and regulated environment for fans to be able to resell their tickets, also ensuring that from a technical point of view, that the resale ticket actually works when you come to the gate."

Important notes for World Cup ticket buyers in Mexico: -

World Cup ticket buyers in Mexico will be able to purchase on a separate platform through FIFA.com/tickets.

Ticket resellers in Mexico will only be able to resell tickets at face value, due to government regulations.

Tickets for the World Cup opener on June 11 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City will be available during the Visa Presale draw phase.

When is the next World Cup ticket sales draw after presale draw?

The next ticket sales draw following the Visa Presale draw will be in November. FIFA is in discussion with the three host nations to see "if and how" they can give domestic customers priority to buy tickets in their home countries.

Ticket buyers hoping to resell World Cup tickets from the United States, Canada and internationally will be allowed to set their own prices.

"We are not capping the FIFA resale platform in terms of ticket prices," Schirgi added. "Obviously, people would go to other resale platforms and would try to find other ways of reselling the ticket, which obviously is something we don't want."

However, FIFA says ticket buyers from Mexico hoping to resell in the country will only be able to flip them at face value, due to Mexican government regulations.

World Cup ticket buyers in Mexico will be operate out of a separate platform through FIFA.com/tickets, where all ticket sales will be available.

Colton Herta on Wednesday was named the test driver for the new Cadillac Formula 1 team — a move that gives the program its first American driver and takes Herta from IndyCar into the global series.

The move had been speculated for the last two weeks but both Herta and team co-owner Dan Towriss refused to address the talks. The F1 program originally began as a project for Michael Andretti to help build a true American team around California-born Herta, but Herta lacks the super license he needs to be eligible to compete in F1.

The team instead last week announced series veterans Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez as its drivers for its 2026 launch, but will now work toward Herta becoming intergrated in the team, serving as its test driver and working toward earning his super license.

He will not compete in IndyCar in 2026, and the racing plans for next season for the 25-year-old will be announced at a later date. Cadillac is believed to be working on landing him a full-time ride in F2, the Formula 1 feeder series.

"I'm incredibly excited to be joining the Cadillac Formula 1 Team as a test driver," Herta said. "This is a dream opportunity, and one I've been working towards for a long time. To be part of Cadillac F1's entry at such a pivotal time is something I couldn't pass up.

"My dream has always been to race in Formula 1, and I see this move as a huge step towards that goal. For now, my focus is on giving everything I can to Cadillac F1, helping build a competitive team."

This will mark a return to European racing for the second-generation racer — his father is former IndyCar driver Bryan Herta. He made his European racing debut in 2015 and over a two-year period secured four victories, six podium finishes and five pole positions in the Euroformula Open Championship.

Herta went on to compete in six British F3 events and earned three podium finishes and a victory at Brands Hatch.

He returned to the United States in 2017 and a career in IndyCar, where he has spent seven seasons while collecting nine wins and 16 pole positions. He became the youngest driver to win an IndyCar Series race in 2019 at Circuit of the Americas, when he was just shy of his 19th birthday.

Herta has scored multiple IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship class wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the overall win at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2024.

He is now the first test driver named by Cadillac.

"We are delighted to welcome Colton Herta as a Test Driver. Colton is an exceptionally talented racer with proven speed, race craft, and maturity well beyond his years," said Cadillac team principal Graeme Lowdon. "His experience in top-level American motorsport as part of the TWG Motorsport family makes him an ideal fit for this role, and he will bring valuable and fresh insight, perspective, and energy to our team as we continue to build for the future.

"Having an American driver join an American Formula 1 team is a hugely significant moment, not only for our Team, but for American motorsport as a whole. Colton represents the passion, ambition, and competitive spirit that define the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, and we are proud to have him carry the American flag with us on the world stage."

Dallas (7-10) at Philadelphia (18-3)

Thursday, 8:20 p.m., NBC

BetMGM NFL Odds: Eagles by 8

Series record: Cowboys lead 71-57.

Last meeting: Eagles beat the Cowboys 41-7 in Philadelphia on Dec. 29, 2024.

Cowboys offense in 2024: overall (17), rush (27), pass (11), scoring (21).

Cowboys defense in 2024: overall (28), rush (29), pass (17), scoring (31).

Eagles offense in 2024: overall (8), rush (2), pass (29), scoring (7).

Eagles defense in 2024: overall (1), rush (10), pass (1), scoring (2).

Turnover differential in 2024: Cowboys minus-6; Eagles plus-11.

Cowboys player to watch

DT Kenny Clark. The Cowboys acquired the three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle in last Thursday's blockbuster trade that sent Micah Parsons to Green Bay. A big game from Clark would strengthen the Cowboys' porous rush defense from 2024 and help alleviate the sting of losing Parsons, who racked up 52 1/2 sacks in four seasons with Dallas.

Eagles player to watch

RB Saquon Barkley. In his first season with the Eagles, Barkley turned in a historic performance. He padded his regular-season total of 2,005 yards rushing by finishing with 2,504 yards on the ground that included playoff games.

Key matchup

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott versus Philadelphia defense. There are question marks in both areas, after a hamstring injury knocked Prescott out in mid-November for the season in 2024. He needs just 50 completions to pass Tony Romo for second in club history. Can he return to his previous success? And what about Philadelphia's defense? The unit lost several big names from last season's Super Bowl winning team, including Darius Slay and Brandon Graham. Will they be as stout as 2024 when they finished first overall and first against the pass in defensive statistics?

Key injuries

Cowboys: CB Trevon Diggs (knee) and LT Tyler Guyton (knee) are trending in the right direction to play on Thursday, coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday. DT Perrion Winfrey (back) did not practice on Tuesday.

Eagles: G Landon Dickerson required meniscus surgery on his right knee after getting hurt in the preseason. He missed practice on Monday with an unrelated back injury. Backup QB Tanner McKee (right thumb) did not practice on Tuesday.

Series notes

Thursday's matchup is the 32nd primetime meeting between the longtime NFC East rivals, which is the most in NFL history.

Stats and stuff

The Eagles will unveil a championship banner from their Super Bowl LIX title, but coach Nick Sirianni said the players would not be on the field to take part in the celebration. ... Sirianni is 48-20 in the regular season in four years at the helm at Philadelphia. ... Super Bowl MVP QB Jalen Hurts threw for 2,903 yards and 18 TDs last season and rushed for another 630 yards and 14 TDs. ... WR A.J. Brown had 1,079 yards receiving and WR DeVonta Smith had 833. ... In addition to Slay and Graham, other key players from 2024 lost from the Eagles' defense include Josh Sweat, Milton Williams and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Returning to Philadelphia's secondary are second-year cornerbacks Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell. DT Jalen Carter anchors Philadelphia's strong front. ...
