The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History last month removed a board that referenced President Donald Trump's two impeachments from an exhibit on the American presidency.

In a statement to CNN on Thursday, The Smithsonian Institution said the decision, which was first reported by The Washington Post, was made after a review of the museum's "legacy content" this year.

Unmentioned in the statement was Trump's executive order earlier this year that appeared crafted to direct the Smithsonian to soften or distort forthright discussions about certain aspects of American history, which could include the legacy of racism in the United States and parts of Trump's own history-making but controversial first term.

The exhibit had last been in 2008 and included information about the impeachments of Presidents Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, and the impeachment process against President Richard Nixon, who resigned over the Watergate scandal before he could be formally impeached.

Trump is the only president in American history to be impeached twice; in 2019 on charges alleging he unlawfully solicited Ukraine to influence the 2020 presidential election, and in 2021 for his actions related to the insurrection at the US Capitol that year. He was acquitted both times by the Senate.

In September 2021, the Smithsonian placed a board over the exhibit which read: "Case under redesign (history happens*)" and referenced Trump's two impeachments.

"On December 18, 2019, the House impeached Donald Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress," the reference to Trump's first impeachment read. "The charges focused on the president's solicitation of foreign influence in the 2020 presidential election and his defiance of Congressional subpoenas. President Trump was acquitted in January 2020."

"On January 13, 2021, Donald Trump became the first president to be impeached twice," the reference to his second impeachment read. "The charge was incitement of insurrection, based on repeated 'false statements' challenging the 2020 election results and his January 6 speech that 'encouraged — and foreseeably resulted in — lawless action at the Capitol. Because Trump's term ended on January 20, his acquittal on February 13 made him the first former president tried by the Senate."

The Smithsonian said in a statement that the board "was intended to be a short-term measure to address current events at the time, however, the label remained in place until July 2025."

The statement added: "A large permanent gallery like The American Presidency that opened in 2000, requires significant amount of time and funding to update and renew. A future and exhibit will include all impeachments."

The statement did not say when the exhibit would be .

Asked about the removal of references to Trump's impeachment, a White House spokesperson said in a statement, "Unfortunately for far too long the Smithsonian museums have highlighted divisive, DEI exhibits which are out of touch with mainstream America."

"We are fully supportive of updating displays to highlight American greatness," spokesperson Davis Ingle said. "The Trump administration will continue working to ensure that the Smithsonian removes all improper ideology and once again unites and instills pride in all Americans regarding our great history."

Trump's order aimed at the Smithsonian is just one example of his efforts to exert his influence on American cultural, athletic and artistic institutions and browbeat them into eliminating aspects of their work.

They include his efforts to take over the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, to have the Washington Commanders football team to revert back to their old name and to stop the participation of transgender people in women's sports.

On June 16, 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the legislation that created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the entity charged with insuring bank deposits. The moment rebuilt something that the Great Depression had annihilated — public trust in the banking system.

The guiding hand of the FDIC meant that now, your money was safe whether the bank was robbed, burned down or failed outright, like so many had over the years as customers watched their life savings evaporate in an instant.

The caricature of old-timers hiding their money under the mattress because they still didn't trust banks was born. Ninety years later, big banks like Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America are giant, global institutions that have integrated their services into every aspect of our financial lives — and they steer your saving habits quietly in the background, whether you realize it or not.

Here's how.

24-Hour Access Through Apps and Mobile Banking

According to Home Pride Bank, roughly nine out of 10 people — 89% — use mobile banking apps as part of their daily lives. Americans are glued to their screens, and big banks have placed themselves front and center on their phones, laptops and tablets.

Real-time monitoring, updates, alerts and notifications make it impossible to tune out, which keeps people conscious of their cash, spending and saving, even if it happens subconsciously.

Budget Tools and Spending Trackers Keep Tabs for You

Keeping track of the money coming in and going out used to be a tedious chore that was beyond the capacity of anyone who didn't have the hours, diligence and head for numbers to balance checkbooks, comb through monthly statements and scour savings passbooks for accuracy.

Today, tools like automated expense trackers and category-based spending and budgeting features — which all the big banks include for free, complete with easy-to-read graphs and charts — do the heavy lifting for you and reveal at a glance precisely where you can cut spending and boost savings.

Features Make Consistent Saving Easy

Bank of America profiles its list of free tools that make it simple to save consistently, and consistency is the key to long-term wealth-building.

It's not just BOA. Every major bank boasts a similar menu of offerings, including:

Automatic transfers put your savings on a schedule.

Split direct deposit makes sure you pay yourself first.

Rounding-up programs — BOA's is called Keep the Change — let you save passively with every purchase.

Buckets let you compartmentalize your savings to work toward different goals in the same account.

Savings calculators help you crunch the numbers and develop realistic timelines for your savings goals.

It All Comes Back to Security — and the Banks Have Kept Up With the Times

FDR didn't have to worry about server hacking, ransomware and digital identity theft, so insured deposits were enough to regain the public's trust in the system. Modern banking customers, however, face all those threats and more every time they log on.

In response, today's big banks have done what the Banking Act of 1933 did during the Depression — incentivized deposits through reassurance that your money in the bank is secure, introducing safeguards like:

Multifactor authentication

Fraud monitoring

Biometric authentication

Automatic time-based logout

SSL encryption

Credential confidentiality

Teen's 7-Figure Quinceañera Was So Grand, It Included Over 30 Vendors and Her Own Personal McDonald's

A Houston teen's quinceañera became a lavish production that merged deep cultural tradition with innovative, custom-built experiences.

With no budget and over 30 vendors involved, the event featured everything from imported florals to boutique activations.

Texas-based event planner Saira Orozco pushed creative boundaries, leaving a lasting impression on the family, guests and vendors who worked the event.

For many Latino families, a quinceañera is more than just a birthday party — it's a celebration of heritage and a deeply emotional milestone shared between generations. Marking a young girl's transition into womanhood, the event is often months in the making and rich with tradition and family pride.

For Bella Garcia's parents, that significance was never in question. What started as a dream to honor their daughter's big moment soon became something extraordinary — a once-in-a-lifetime celebration that took nearly two years to bring to life and unfolded on a scale few could imagine.

While extravagant events rich in detail often come at a steep cost, Garcia's quinceañera surpassed even the highest expectations."I would say in the six-figure mark if you want something really grand," Saira Orozco — a Texas-based wedding planner who has planned and designed dozens of high-end events — tells PEOPLE exclusively. "However, hers was obviously a lot more... it was over seven figures. We didn't have a budget."

When planning a quinceañera, the birthday girl traditionally wears a ballgown-style dress — often reminiscent of a princess — for the formal ceremony and reception.Over the years, it's become common for the quinceañera to change into a second look for the livelier part of the evening, when the dance floor opens and the celebration kicks into high gear. This was no exception for Garcia — but like everything about her event, her parents went the extra mile. "She had two designers," Orozco shares. "One for the pink magenta [dress], which was made in Mexico, and then she had another designer for her garden dress. Each gown was custom-made."

When Garcia's parents — who Orozco refers to as her "unicorn clients" — reached out to begin the planning process, they already had their daughter's dresses being designed, which allowed Orozco to solely focus on the layout, logistics and unique experiences that made this event feel less like a party and more like a fully branded, immersive world built just for the quinceañera.

"When I sat down with Bella's parents in person, I asked them many questions," she recalls. "I was like, 'What are we thinking? How many vendors? What's the theme?' They were like, 'I don't know. You do everything. We trust you and I just don't want to stress.'"

It was the kind of creative freedom most event planners would dream of — but just as the vision for the quince celebration began taking shape, Orozco received some big news of her own. "When her mom Maribel first contacted me in August 2023, the contract wasn't signed until the end of the year, but my mind was already turning," she says. "In January 2024, I found out I was pregnant, and somehow I was building both a baby and this production at the same time."With a massive event on the horizon and her second baby on the way, Orozco had no time to waste. "I was sick as a dog," she recalls. "But [she approached Garcia] and was like, 'Okay, I need a brain dump from you. Let's just talk it all out — what do you want? What are you envisioning? What are you dreaming of?'"

Garcia's answer was simple: flowers, pink and something whimsical. "She said she wanted people to feel like they were walking into a wonderland," Orozco recalls. "I was like, 'Okay, I got it. Now let me go back into my cave and think.'"

To bring Bella's wonderland to life, Orozco's vision was to create "a full Parisian-inspired experience.""We wanted boutique shops like stepping into a dreamy little city curated just for Bella," she says. "We brought in Picnics in the City to handle a massive custom build-out, Royal Luxury Events for florals and large-scale production and the incredibly talented Rachel Hendrix, whose custom illustrations were featured throughout the space, adding such a personal, whimsical layer.""I had Rachel Hendricks," Orozco says. "She does a lot of celebrity doodles like the Kardashians, so I reached out to her and she did 'Bella's doodles.'"Orozco enlisted the help of over 30 vendors with more than a thousand people working in some capacity. Each was carefully chosen to execute a specific piece of the vision."It was a huge tree with many branches," she explains. "But I wanted everyone to really focus on what they were doing."The result? A quinceañera party so grand, guests and vendors alike began sharing their behind-the-scenes experiences on TikTok, documenting everything from the elaborate décor to the specialty coffee bar and IV lounge.

Looking back, Garcia says what made the night unforgettable wasn't just the scale or the surprises, but how deeply personal the entire experience felt."One aspect of my quinceañera that I will never forget is how much fun I had throughout the entire celebration," Bella Garcia tells PEOPLE exclusively. "It was truly special to have so many of the things I love brought together in one place, creating an unforgettable experience."The florals alone — which included thousands of imported blooms, custom draping and specialty rentals — accounted for nearly half of the seven-figure budget. "We had four containers come in," Orozco says. "About 90 percent of her event was custom."Beyond florals and décor, the event offered a series of fully branded experiences — each one designed to feel like a page out of Garcia's world. "Bella wanted several boutiques and experiences," Orozco says.

"So we had her coffee shop, a merch shop, a flower shop, we had the McDonald's — which read McQuince in pink neon lights — and we had an IV bar."When asked about her favorite part of the event, Garcia felt that everything came together smoothly."I have several favorite moments that truly stood out to me," Garcia recalls. "Receiving my car was an unforgettable surprise. The excitement and joy of not knowing it was coming made it even more special. Another highlight was the perfume station, which was a hit with all my guests, especially my close friends."Garcia's quinceañera celebration ran from 5 p.m. until three in the morning — a nearly 10-hour event that required round-the-clock preparation and oversight.

Her guests felt the magic too. "My aunt said that walking into my quinceañera after the delicious and refreshing cocktail hour felt like stepping into a fairytale," Garcia adds. "She said everything was so beautifully curated and completely captured my essence. It was posh, it was full of pizzazz and it was perfect."For Orozco, the physical toll came shortly after. "Literally for a month and a half after her event," she says, noting, "I got the flu and strep throat literally right after — my body just shut down."

As for Garcia and her family, the celebration didn't end there. A month or so later, they hosted another quinceañera party in Mexico — complete with over 2,000 guests, live bands and even more festive flair."They all outdid themselves," Orozco says. "It was amazing."

Coinbase (COIN) stock plunged 14%, its biggest intraday drop since April, after the crypto platform highflier's revenue last quarter took a hit from lower trading volume.

Revenue for the company's second quarter increased 3.3% year over year to $1.5 billion. Wall Street was expecting a climb to $1.59 billion. Revenue also slowed from $2 billion in the prior quarter.

Total trading volume declined 40% in the second quarter as crypto asset volatility declined.

"Despite the average crypto price market cap being roughly flat, we saw shifting macro conditions, including trade policy considerations and recession concerns, impact risk assets broadly. And crypto assets were no exception," Alesia Haas, CFO of Coinbase, said on the company's post-earnings conference call.

"We saw a divergence between bitcoin and everything else as the average bitcoin price in the quarter was up 6%, whereas non-bitcoin asset market cap declined 11%," Haas added.

Coinbase shares hit record highs last month as bitcoin (BTC-USD) reached new all-time highs and Circle (CRCL), a stablecoin issuer, rallied on optimism surrounding new regulations for US dollar-backed digital tokens.

Bernstein analysts recently dubbed Coinbase a "one-stop Amazon" of crypto services. On Thursday night, Gautam Chhugani reaffirmed an Outperform rating on the stock with a $510 price target and said in a note that the "quarter that doesn't matter."

Instead, the analyst said investors should focus on crypto derivatives and the company's "everything exchange" vision for the platform.

On Thursday night, CEO Brian Armstrong highlighted on the company earnings call Coinbase's focus on tokenized equities, or digital tokens representing real-world stocks.

'We believe tokenized equities are more efficient with global coverage, 24/7 trading, instant settlement, and the ability to offer perpetual futures," Armstrong told analysts.

Year to date, Coinbase shares are up roughly 24%.

August Has 2 Birth Flowers to Choose From—Here's What They Symbolize originally appeared on Parade.

August birthdays are here and there's no better way to celebrate than with the August birth flowers (yep, there are two!): the tall, striking gladiolus and the delicate poppy. These beautiful blooms are late summer at its best.Parade spoke with two floral experts to get the inside scoop on the August birth month flowers, as well as how to best care for them.Whether you want to celebrate your own birthday with flowers or learn more about a loved one's birthday blooms, you'll find all of the delightful details here. What Is the August Birth Flower?

Hannah Bonham Blackwell, founder and Lead Creative Director at Southside Blooms, explains August's floral pairing: "August has two birth flowers and they both are bursting with sunny summer colors. They are gladiolus and poppies."These blooms capture the essence of the season, reflecting August's warm days and vibrant energy.Related: What Is the March Birth Flower? iStockAugust Birth Flower Symbolism: Gladiolus

Gladiolus is rich in symbolism. Eka Dara, founder of Edelweiss Floral Atelier, describes its significance: "Gladiolus symbolizes strength and integrity. Each color has a specific meaning: red for love, yellow for friendship and white for remembrance."Blackwell adds, "Gladiolus flowers stand for strength and honor. Their name, which comes from the same root word as gladiator, literally means 'little sword.' So, it's no surprise that the flower symbolizes many gladiator attributes like honor, strength of character and endurance.""These stems, which can grow up to five feet tall, make a serious statement," Blackwell continues. "So, I think they're a great birthday gift for someone who you know is a fighter."Related: What Is the April Birth Flower? Celebrate April Birthdays With This Fabulous Bloom

Gladiolus in History

The gladiolus has an especially fascinating background. "Gladiolus have been associated with Roman gladiators, and the spectators would throw Gladiolus flowers/petals to the winner," said Dara. "With their long, pointy shape, Gladiolus have been associated with swords."Blackwell adds an interesting detail: "These blooms have such a strong connection to their meaning that Roman gladiators used to wear them like necklaces when they went into the arena. Fans would shower the victor with additional blossoms."Dara continues, "Gladiolus originated from Africa and appeared in Europe in the 18th century. In America, they became the most popular in the early 20th century with the creation of the American Gladiolus Society in 1910.""The North American Gladiolus Council (yes, there really is such a thing!) believes that the Bible verse in Matthew discussing the beauty of lilies of the field is actually about the gladiolus flower," Blackwell explains, sharing a religious connection.Related: The Month of May Has 2 Birth Flowers to Choose From—Here's What They Symbolize

How to Care for Gladiolus

To keep gladiolus fresh, Dara advises: "First, remove the leaves, cut the stem at an angle and change the water every other day."Blackwell provides more detailed care instructions: "Keep a close eye on your vase because you'll want to remove the lower flowers as they fade. This helps the remaining flowers up the stem to open up. Like with all indoor arrangements, you should cut the flower stems at a 45-degree angle before placing them into clean water. Every day, change out the water and give the stems a fresh trim. Because the stems can be quite tall, you'll want a good sturdy vase with decent weight so that it doesn't topple over."Related: The Month of June Has 2 Birth Flowers to Choose From—Here's What They Symbolize

iStockAugust Birth Flower Symbolism: Poppy

The poppy, August's second birth flower, has its own interesting symbolism. "Poppies symbolize remembrance, hope and a peaceful future," shares Dara. "In ancient Egypt, the Poppy was a symbol of the God of Death, Osiris."Blackwell adds, "Poppies symbolize remembrance which makes them a lovely flower to include in a memorial arrangement to honor a departed loved one on their birthday."Related: July Has 2 Birth Flowers to Choose From—Here's What They Symbolize

Poppy in History

Poppies have a significant place in history, particularly related to war remembrance. Dara notes, "Poppies are associated with WWI. Their bright red blooms germinated in the disturbed soil where battles had raged. They became a symbol of the 'No More War Movement' and they are worn to show support for the armed forces.""The poem 'In Flanders Field' cemented the poppy's place in history," adds Blackwell. "John McCrae, a Canadian poet, wrote this touching poem in 1915 during World War I. Many people know the first line, 'In Flanders Field the poppies blow.' About five years later, the American Legion made the poppy its official flower. Since then, you will notice people wearing it on the lapel to honor those lost in battle. In England, the red poppy specifically is worn in November to honor those lost in battle, a tradition since 1921."

How to Care for Poppies

To make sure cut poppies last as long as possible, Blackwell recommends giving them a fresh cut and then putting the ends in an inch of boiling water with the "heads facing outwards, away from the steam, letting the water cool to room temperature."Dara gives similar advice but adds that you can head the freshly cut ends with a lighter or a match. This helps to prevent the sap from leaking into the water. Also, the variety of poppy matters. "Not all poppies have a good vase life, so make sure that you are only cutting ones from varieties like the Iceland Poppy," says Dara. "Most poppy varieties are best enjoyed on the plant. They are hearty perennials in many climates and often self-seed, which makes them a great (and easy!) flower to practice your green thumb on!"

A recall of around 192,000 play kitchens has been issued after a toddler died of strangulation in Oregon while playing with one.

Backyard Kids, LLC, of Plano, Texas, announced the recall of the KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchens on Thursday. The company is offering to replace the hooks on all units, which are used to hold toy kitchen accessories, like pots, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The kitchens are originally manufactured by KidKraft, Inc., and only about 400 of them were sold by Backyard Kids LLC to consumers, including 12 sold in Canada.

The kitchens retail from $120 to $270 and were sold on KidKraft.com, Amazon.com and Walmart.com from 2018 to this month, per the safety commission.

The recall comes after a hook caught onto the shirt of a 23-month-old in Oregon who was crawling through an opening in the back of the play kitchen in 2023.

"The child was unable to rescue himself and died from strangulation and asphyxia," the safety commission said in a news release.

In a statement, KidKraft said that the model 53411 play kitchens "pose a strangulation and asphyxia hazard and a risk of serious injury or death to young children who are climbing on the counter or crawling through the opening at the back of the play kitchens."

"Your safety is our first priority," the toy manufacturer said in the statement.

The company filed for bankruptcy in May 2024. It is unclear if this is connected to the toddler's death in 2023.

Backyard Kids, LLC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

People who have the toy kitchens are advised to stop using them, remove the original hooks and contact Backyard Kids, LLC for replacement hooks, the safety commission said.

Afterward, Chourio told reporters his hamstring was "tight" and he felt "a little tickle" as he accelerated once he realized he could get to third base. As he reached the base, he thought it might have just been a cramp.

The Brewers are not taking any chances on their young star and he'll likely get some time off. Chourio sat out Wednesday's series-finale loss to the Cubs.

"With a hamstring [injury], we're going to be cautious there, so it's probably going to be a little bit longer than we had initially anticipated," Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said via MLB.com. "We're not expecting anything excessive, but we just want to be super patient with a player the caliber of Jackson Chourio."

Chourio has followed up a rookie season where he finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting with numbers that are on pace to top what he did in 2024. Through 106 games, the Venezuela native is slashing .276/.474/.786 with 17 home runs, 67 RBI and 18 stolen bases.

Brandon Lockridge, whom the Brewers acquired Thursday from the San Diego Padres in the Nestor Cortes deal, is set to take Chourio's place on the roster should he require an IL stint.

"Adding somebody like Lockridge and his athleticism should definitely help us there," Arnold said. "Obviously, we'll miss Chourio, [but] for hopefully a short amount of time here."
