Sarah Jessica Parker broke down the latest episode of And Just Like That, which saw a dramatic conversation between Carrie and Aidan (John Corbett)

The actress said she was "really pleased" with how the moment unfolded, despite the drama. "I loved shooting that scene"

It was also, notably, a moment that echoed back to a controversial Sex and the City storyline: when Carrie had an affair with Mr. Big while she was dating Aidan — and while Big was married to Natasha

Warning: This story contains spoilers for the July 3 episode of And Just Like That...

Carrie Bradshaw just got a taste of her own medicine, and Sarah Jessica Parker was all for it.

On the July 3 episode of And Just Like That... season 3, Carrie is left reeling after Aidan (John Corbett) admits he and his ex-wife, Kathy, slept together. He doesn't have any real explanation for it, other than, "It just happened," and while it throws Carrie for a loop, it also gives her a chance to empathize — and vice versa.

Of course, it's a moment that echoes when Carrie herself cheated on Aidan in Sex and the City. Her affair with Mr. Big (Chris Noth), who was also married at the time, was a controversial but pivotal piece of her story — one that creator Darren Star said "brought the show to another level."

When it came time to film the emotional scene between her and Corbett's character, Parker, 60, told Deadline she was all for it.

Parker loved how the conversation between Carrie and Aidan unfolded.

"I was really pleased with that conversation," she said. "I loved shooting that scene. I love the proportion of the room. It's so empty."

Parker noted that the exchange "wasn't hysterical," which was another thing she loved about it.

"It was hard for him to tell Carrie," she said. "And Carrie was not condemning."

In Parker's eyes, the conversation perfectly encapsulates how important communication is in a relationship.

For Carrie and Aidan's relationship as a whole, the confession forced them to face the reality of how vague their "five-year" plan really was.

Parker liked "what that conversation provoked, which is, 'Well, what did you think I meant? What does that mean? What did you assume the words 'five years' meant?' "

"Not being certain of what each other's words mean is very common in relationships, especially relationships where there's a huge amount of investment," she continued. "You think you're always hearing, knowing and understanding somebody."

She's pleased with how things are unfolding between Carrie and Aidan, despite the supposed sabbatical, because it means Corbett is still around.

"John is the easiest person to work with and play opposite, and I sincerely mean that," she told the outlet. "I'm really fond of him."

"He's famously enthusiastic and energetic. He cares a great deal about every single line. He thinks a lot about it the night before. He's really committed and delightful, and has such an ease when the camera rolls."

Corbett "makes the entire experience so delightful" on set, regardless of the fact that some scenes aren't "always easy to get right or to do."

"I'm glad that, even though there was some kind of agreement about a sabbatical, they were both incapable of honoring it because it meant that John Corbett was around a lot. For all of us, that meant really good times and happiness," she continued. "I think he's just lovely."
