- David Corenswet Went Off Script and Yelled 'F— You' During 'Superman' Filming When Rachel Brosnahan 'Caught Me Off Guard and Made Me Feel Hurt': 'It Was a Shock to Us All'

"Superman" stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan participated in a joint video interview with People magazine and got asked about surprising each other on set during the filming of James Gunn's superhero movie. Brosnahan called her co-star "a really fearless actor" who "was playing with the different sides of this character all the time."

"She made me curse at her," Corenswet then revealed, as the two actors started laughing. "The way she delivered one particular line made me sort of involuntarily say, 'Oh fuck you,' which I think was a shock to all of us. She got me. She caught me off guard and made me feel really hurt in that moment. And so I, in character, shot back at her."

It wasn't the only time an expletive got yelled out on the "Superman" set. As part of Corenswet's recent GQ cover story, Gunn revealed that he'd have a bit of fun on set when his Man of Steel actor would ask one too many questions.

"Sometimes his questions are great, and I totally see where they make him better, and because they make him better, they make the movie better," Gunn said of Corenswet. "But every once in a while, it's just one question too many, and it's like, 'Oh, my God, just, David, stop, stop, for a minute.' And the beautiful thing about me and David is that he knows that about himself and he knows where my limits are. And when I say, 'David, shut the fuck up,' David totally gets it and does not take that personally."

"We have a really, to me, beautiful relationship in that way because I'm used to being very sensitive with actors. You have to be by default, because many actors are incredibly sensitive because they're putting their emotions on the line onscreen," Gunn added. "But with David, he's not that way. He's not sensitive like that."

Corenswet plays Superman and Brosnahan stars as Lois Lane in Gunn's fillm. Neither actor revealed which scene caused Corenswet to go off script, but it was likely the extended sequence in which Lois grills Superman during an on-the-record interview. It's the part of the script the actors auditioned with and it's been hailed by critics as one of the best scenes in the finished movie.
