EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Forward Alex Laferriere has agreed to a three-year, $12.3 million deal to stay with the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings announced the deal Saturday for Laferriere, who was a restricted free agent this summer after playing out his entry-level contract.

The 23-year-old Laferriere had 19 goals and 23 assists last year for the Kings, emerging as a dependable scorer in only his second NHL season. He largely played on the right wing alongside center Quinton Byfield, another key member of Los Angeles' young core, and high-scoring Kevin Fiala.

A third-round pick in the 2020 draft, Laferriere has 31 goals and 34 assists in 158 games for the Kings.

New Los Angeles general manager Ken Holland has taken care of his most pressing summer contract issues after the signing of Laferriere, but Holland said last month that he would be eager to sign Adrian Kempe to a long-term deal as the Swedish forward heads into the final season of his current contract.

Each month, TikToker JorLinn shares photos of her daughter dressed up as different Taylor Swift album covers

Jori recreates all of Swift's iconic looks through sourcing materials and asking friends for help

Her videos have since gone viral, amassing hundreds of thousands of views

Before one mom even knew she was expecting a baby girl, she knew she was expecting a Swiftie.

Jori, who goes by JorLinn on TikTok, has celebrated each one of her daughter Noa James' monthly milestones with a Taylor Swift-themed photoshoot since giving birth at the beginning of 2025.

"A friend and I had discussed it, and we were collaborating together," Jori exclusively tells PEOPLE. "We started collecting pieces. I have put a lot of thought into it, and I've done a lot of DIY for the photos themselves."

Noa's "debut" photo was inspired by Swift's self-titled first album. Joni dressed the little one in a white dress, cowgirl boots and placed a guitar by her side.

For each album, Jori selects an outfit that coordinates with the overall color scheme and vibe, adding any other accessories she might need. When she can't find the perfect infant-sized pieces in stores, Joni crafts them herself or turns to creative friends for help.

After each photo, Jori quickly gets to planning the next one, sourcing the materials she might need to recreate each iconic look.

"I try to pick things that people will understand, but also are iconic to that era, and concept a rough outfit," she explains. "Then I search everywhere for different items, going to Walmart or sourcing people to make things for us and then we go from there. I already have all the albums, so we don't have to source those."

Jori shared a carousel of all six photos thus far on TikTok, where it went viral, amassing over 380,000 views.

"Once the video started taking off, I thought, 'This is really cool,' because I put so much thought and effort into it and it's cool to see other people react to it," she tells PEOPLE.

"We know the Swiftie community is strong, and it is cool reading and seeing other people's ideas," she adds. "People have told me they're going to do the same when they have their daughter."

Jori already has most of Noa's outfits planned for the remaining albums: Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department.

However, given that Swift only has 11 albums, she's keeping her fingers crossed that the pop star will release another before Noa turns 1.

While the fun project will inevitably come to an end, Jori says she's keeping her options open and might find a way to bring back the idea in the future once her daughter is older. Like Jori's eldest daughter, she has no doubt Noa will be a Swiftie for life — just like her.

Jori's daughter

Jori says that Swift's music has been "deeply impactful" for her, "both as a teenager and now as an adult."

"Her music has become something truly generational for us, creating a special bond between me and my children," Jori shares. "This project is something I've put a lot of thought into, even before it began. I've been very intentional with the creative process and especially with selecting pieces for each era — they all carry meaning."

Though Jori already has a plan for her daughter's milestone birthday, she shares that "the perfect 12-month photo would be a picture with Taylor."

SANTIAGO (Reuters) -Chilean copper miner Codelco has discovered the remains of one of five trapped miners at its flagship El Teniente mine, it said on Saturday, bringing the death toll from a collapse caused by a strong tremor on Thursday to two people.

It said that the identity of the second victim must still be confirmed by authorities. One other person was reported dead on Thursday at the time of the accident, which occurred in the Andesita section of the mine.

"This discovery fills us with sadness, but it also tells us that we are in the right place, that the strategy we followed led us to them," Andres Music, general manager of El Teniente, said in a statement.

He said Codelco would continue its efforts with "strength and hope," but with increased caution which could slow its progress.

Music did not provide more details about how Codelco recovered the worker's remains, or update the progress in reaching the area where others are believed to be trapped.

Earlier in the day, Music said Codelco had cleared just over a fifth of the blocked underground tunnels needed to reach the trapped workers, but had not yet made contact with them.

Rescue teams were using heavy machinery, and hoped to proceed at a rate of about 15 to 20 meters (49 to 65.6 feet) every 24 hours, he said, but the exact timing would be unpredictable.

The accident, which took place around 5:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, was caused by one of the largest tremors ever recorded at El Teniente, with the impact of a 4.2 magnitude quake.

Codelco is investigating whether the cause was mining activity or natural tectonic shifts in the earthquake-prone country.

Free-agent wide receiver Keenan Allen and the Los Angeles Chargers might be getting the band back together.

NFL Network reported that there is a mutual interest in a reunion. Allen visited the Chargers on Friday, the day after their 34-7 victory over the Detroit Lions in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

Allen, 33, spent 11 seasons with the Chargers after being selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. The six-time Pro Bowl selection recorded 904 receptions for 10,530 yards and 59 touchdowns in 139 games (134 starts) for the team.

Allen was then traded to Chicago in March 2024 for a fourth-round pick in that year's draft.

He collected 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games (all starts) with the Bears before becoming a free agent in March.

The Chargers' wide receiver room took a hit when Allen's former teammate -- Mike Williams -- announced his retirement before training camp.

That left Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Jalen Reagor and rookie Tre Harris as the top targets for quarterback Justin Herbert.

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links."

Jason Momoa stars in the new historical epic, Chief of War, as Ka'iana, a Hawaiian chief living in exile before he ventures beyond the islands. However, Momoa's experience with the project didn't begin with Ka'iana—but rather with a desire to explore this pivotal moment in Hawaiian history. In addition to starring in the series, Momoa serves as a co-creator and executive producer, and he directed the finale. "We wanted to talk about this time period," Momoa tells Town & Country about his inspiration for the show. "We wanted to find a vehicle where we could cover a lot of different storylines."

When they began casting the series, Momoa and fellow co-creator Thomas Pa'a Sibbett intentionally widened their search beyond the shores of the Hawaiian islands, and put out a casting call for all Polynesian actors. "It really opened the door for Polynesia," Momoa explains of Chief of War. "That's one of the things we're excited about: We have such a varied melting pot of Polynesian cultures that we're making a show of uniting the Hawaiian islands, but it's been this unification of Polynesia." Sibbett adds that the casting process "really became an excuse for us to reach across the Pacific and bring ourselves together."

While many key roles—including Kamehameha—are played by Hawaiian actors, all the cast members who play the Hawaiian nobility, even those from other regions, were focused on getting the story right, Sibbett says. "Whether they were Native Hawaiian or not, because we have a lineage connection, we have cultural connections," he explains. "We really are relatives. So they put equally the same amount of respect they would do for their own stories they gave to us, and that quality shows. And it really, really made a difference."

Here, get to know the cast of Chief of War and the characters they portray:

Jason Momoa as Ka'iana

At the start of Chief of War, Ka'iana is living in exile with his family, including his half-brothers Namake and Nahi, his wife Kupuohi, and his sister-in-law Heke. Soon, he becomes the first chief to travel outside Hawai'i, before he returns to ally with Kamehameha in his mission to unite the islands.

Ka'iana was "one of the first famous Hawaiians. He would travel the world, and you got to see that. I just thought that was a really beautiful story," Momoa says.

Momoa is best known for portraying Aquaman in the Aquaman films and Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, as well as other major roles in Dune, See, and Fast X.

Luciane Buchanan as Ka'ahumanu

Luciane Buchanan, an actress of Tongan descent from Aotearoa New Zealand, takes on the role of Ka'ahumanu. "She was destined" to play Ka'ahumanu, Momoa says. "She is a really, really talented actress. She came in, and that was it. She was unbelievable."

Ka'ahumanu, the daughter of Moku, is sent to wed Kamehameha of Hawai'i. She also becomes a close ally of Ka'iana. "She was such a strong woman," Buchanan says. "She's quite polarizing. Some people in Hawai'i love her and think she's this iconic person, and some people look at her more critically." She adds, "Her legacy was to advance Hawai'i in a different way. She was curious. She was the first person in Hawai'i to get the language written. She got the Bible translated into Hawaiian. She was thinking ahead constantly."

Buchanan previously starred as Rose in The Night Agent, and is set to appear in the newest Evil Dead film, Evil Dead Burn.

Temuera Morrison as King Kahekili

Māori and Tainui actor Temuera Morrison takes on the role of King Kahekili of Maui. At the start of the series, Kahekili tricks Ka'iana into helping him conquer the kingdom of O'ahu.

"He ruled for quite some time," Morrison tells T&C of Kahekili. "Very strategic, very clever—that's where his strength was, how to manipulate, how to coerce people and use them for the betterment of his own. He believed in the God of Thunder." Over the course of the season, Kahekili becomes Ka'iana's chief antagonist.

Morrison previously worked with Momoa in the Aquaman series, but is perhaps best known for playing Boba Fett in the Star Wars franchise and starring as Jake in Once We Were Warriors.

Cliff Curtis as Keoua

Māori actor Cliff Curtis plays Keoua, who is in line to inherit the Hawai'i throne from his father, King Kalani'opu'u.

"My character is a small part of the series," Curtis tells T&C. "Ka'iana's mission is to unite the islands of Hawai'i, to prepare for the migration that's coming from Europe, and [Ka'iana meets] some obstacles along the way—and I'm one of those obstacles."

Curtis made his on-screen debut in the Oscar-winning film The Piano, and has starred in Once We Were Warriors, Training Day, Avatar: The Way of Water, among many other films and TV shows.

Kaina Makua as King Kamehameha

Newcomer Kaina Makua, a Native Hawaiian farmer and educator, takes on the role of Kamehameha. Kamehameha is unexpectedly crowned King of Hawai'i, setting him on a journey to unite the islands. He is married to Ka'ahumanu.

A few years ago, Momoa spotted Makua on the beach of Kaua'i. "I literally hit my cousin," he recalls, "I was like, 'Who the hell is that? I him.' When I got to know him, it was just unbelievable. He's perfect. He was born to play this role. And I mean, that's crazy!"

This is Makua's acting debut; before this, he worked as a farmer, and was previously a Hawaiian language teacher.

Moses Goods as Moku

Native Hawaiian actor Moses Goods takes on the role of Ka'ahumanu father, Moku (short for Ke'eaumoku), a chief advisor to Kamehameha.

"Historically, Moku was the greatest war general and strategist of his time, and an incredibly fierce fighter," Goods explains. "Moku has two things that he loves—his people, and his daughter. Until now, he's been able to keep these two things separate. But inevitably, his daughter becomes intertwined in the political game that he has to play, and they're slowly trying to figure out how to navigate this game together."

Goods has appeared in NCIS: Hawai'i, Hae Hawaii, and Inhumans. His focus has been on the stage, though; he is the founder and artistic director of ʻInamona Theatre Company, and has a one man show, Duke, about the father of modern surfing, Duke Paoa Kahanamoku.

Te Kohe Tuhaka as Namake

Māori actor Te Kohe Tuhaka plays Ka'iana's middle brother, Namake. Namake is secretly in love with love with Kupuohi, Ka'iana's wife.

In the production notes for the show, Tuhaka describes Namake as "the keeper of ceremonies for his family." He says, "He is the person who sees both sides of the story, well anchored in traditions and what it means to be Hawaiian. Throughout the series, he comes up against his own desires versus his responsibilities. He loves his brother so much, but he also loves [Kupuohi], and we see the vulnerabilities of this man who can be so stoic because he's trying to keep everything contained."

Tuhaka has mainly worked in New Zealand, best known for projects including The Dead Lands and Vegas.

Te Ao o Hinepehinga as Kupuohi

Māori actress Te Ao o Hinepehinga plays Ka'iana's wife, Kupuohi (also known as Kekupuohi). She was a warrior from Hawai'i island. Kupuohi was "known as the woman who was never taken down," Hinepehinga says. "And this is a woman who fought against, alongside and against some of the greatest warriors in Hawaiian history. And this woman held her own."

"I wanted to say no" to the role, Hinepehinga tells T&C. "I had a really hard time understanding why I should be the one to play a Kanaka [Native Hawaiian] character. I had to consult with my elders, and my mother was the one who encouraged me. I was very lucky that when I got here, my ohana here in Hawai'i did nothing but embrace me—and gave me so much aloha and gave me the confidence to feel like with them by my side, I knew I could do this in a way that would honor and honor her story. And I hopefully, I did a good job." She has previously starred in Head High and Breakwater.

Mainei Kinimaka as Heke

Native Hawaiian actress Mainei Kinimaka, a fluent 'Ōlelo Hawai'i speaker, takes on the role of Heke, Kupuohi's younger sister and Ka'iana's sister-in-law.

"When I was growing up, many of the films and TV shows taking place in Hawai'i weren't Hawaiian stories," Kinimaka says in the production notes. "The creation, values, and intentions of Chief of War are entirely different. This show represents every single thing I've ever wanted to do as an artist."

Kinimaka, also a professional surfer, is both Momoa's cousin and the daughter of surfing legend Titus Kinimaka. She made her acting debut in See, and also appeared in The Last Manhunt.

Siua Ikale'o as NahiPhoto credit: Courtesy of Apple

Tongan-American actor Siua Ikale'o plays Nahi, Ka'iana's younger brother. In the series, Nahi also grapples with his feelings for Heke.

"Heke is showing Nahi some attention," Ikale'o says. "He's starting to develop feelings, which feel to him like distractions. It's fun to see this giant of a man keep running away from this lovely and strong young woman."

He made his television debut in 2022 on NCIS: Hawai'i.

Brandon Finn as Prince Kupule

Native Hawaiian actor Brandon Finn takes on the role of Prince Kupule, King Kahekili's son.

Working closely with Temeura Morrison, who portrays Kahekili, was a dream come true for him. "When I first met Temeura, I had to refrain from telling him that I grew up with a poster of him as Jango Fett in my bedroom," Finn says in the production notes of working with Morrison. "He was a Pacific Islander who made it into a Star Wars film. And suddenly I get the job playing his son, and I'm in a room in downtown Honolulu, doing 'Olelo Hawai'i lessons with Temuera Morrison. I had to suppress the fan in me, but he was so open about himself and his craft from the very beginning. I'm always going to appreciate that."

Finn has previously appeared in Fantasy Island and Three Women.

Roimata Fox as Taula

Māori actress Roimata Fox plays prophetess Taula, who appears to numerous characters throughout the series.

"Taula is a name is for the prophet that is male or female," Professor Lilikalā Kame'eleihiwa, who teaches at University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, tells T&C. "The Taula are imbued with the God, and they speak from the God. So they're possessed by an akua, or divine element, and they speak for that element."

Like other Māori Chief of War cast members, Fox has largely worked in Aotearoa New Zealand, appearing in A Remarkable Place to Die, The Brokenwood Mysteries, The Ring Inz, Cowboy Bebop, among other television series.

James Udom as Tony

James Udom takes on the role of Tony, a formerly enslaved sailor aboard the British merchant ship Nootka. Ka'iana befriends Tony during his travels.

"He's based on a real person, formerly enslaved, who ended up in Hawai'i and was so dedicated to the people that they made him an honorary Hawaiian," explains Udom in the production notes. "Tony and Ka'iana are wary of each other as two strangers from two different parts of the world, but they find a real brotherhood and connection."

Udom has previously appeared in Echo 3, The Sandman, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Judas and the Black Messiah, and other projects.

Pitcher Tanner Houck will undergo Tommy John surgery, Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters (via MassLive's Chris Cotillo) on Saturday.

Houck, 29, has been on the injured list with a flexor pronator strain in his right forearm since May 13. Such an injury is often a precursor to a tear that requires reconstructive surgery, but the Red Sox hoped Houck would recover with rest and rehabilitation.

However, Houck's rehab assignment was cut short on July 9 when he was still feeling soreness in his right arm. Last week, the Red Sox shut him down from throwing, making a 2025 return seem unlikely. At the time, Cora said surgery wouldn't be necessary. But orthopedist Dr. Keith Meister recommended a procedure after viewing his MRI results.

[Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season]

Now, Houck will not only miss the remainder of the 2025 season but by undergoing surgery in August, he will likely be sidelined for the 2026 campaign as well. In nine starts before going on the IL, Houck registered an 8.04 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings.

Boston's first-round draft pick (No. 24 overall) in 2017 out of Missouri, Houck has compiled a 3.97 ERA and 24-32 record in 113 appearances (80 starts), averaging 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings. He was named to the MLB All-Star team last season, finishing with a 3.12 ERA and 154 strikeouts in 178 2/3 innings.

Houck's uncertain status made getting another starting pitcher a priority for the Red Sox at the MLB trade deadline. Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow acquired Dustin May (6-7, 4.85 ERA) from the Los Angeles Dodgers, in addition to reliever Steven Matz from the St. Louis Cardinals.

However, critics asserted that the team didn't add nearly enough when it's four games out of first place in the AL East and has a tenuous hold on one of the league's three wild-card playoff berths.

The Red Sox rank 12th in MLB with a 4.01 ERA from their starters, with a Cy Young Award candidate in Garrett Crochet and Brayan Bello also pitching well.

However, Walker Buehler has been disappointing, while Lucas Giolito has been inconsistent. Additionally, Hunter Dobbins suffered a season-ending right ACL tear before the All-Star break and Patrick Sandoval has not fully recovered from left elbow surgery and is doubtful to pitch in 2025 after signing as a free agent.

"Tough year for him, tough year for us," Cora said, via MLB.com. "But he'll kill the rehab, he'll do his job, and when he comes back, he's going to be OK."

Mackie called Warner a "beautiful human being" and opened up about what he considered to be "the most important thing" about their friendship

Anthony Mackie is reflecting on his special friendship with the late Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

Mackie recently sat down with PEOPLE alongside his Twisted Metal costar, Stephanie Beatriz, to discuss the latest season of the series, when the topic turned to the The Cosby Show actor.

"I'm proud to say Malcom-Jamal Warner was a friend of mine," Mackie, 46, said. "He's somebody that I knew and spent time with, and just was such a beautiful human being."

"And every time I was around him, I was able to take full advantage of those conversations and that time. That, for me, is the most important thing," he added.

Mackie went on to reflect on his time — and mentorship — with the late actor and "icon" Andre Braugher, who died of lung cancer in December 2023 at the age of 61.

"Being in New York and that new kid on the theater scene. To have those lessons and those moments and have that communicated [by] such — at that time for me — such an icon in the business," he recalled.

He added, "I always tell people just take full advantage of those moments [with mentors] and truly be yourself so that that person can see, react and engage with who you are and not some fictitious idea of who you think they want you to be."

Beatriz, who worked closely with Braugher on the hit comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine for eight seasons, also shared her thoughts on loss — as well as her advice for taking full advantage of the time we have with the people we love.

"Unfortunately, we all go through grief in our lives," Beatriz, 44, began, adding, "And all you really have are those memories."

"So Anthony's absolutely right," she added. "Coming to people in your life with the truest, most honest self as much as you can at all times is gonna feed the memories when you lose them. And hopefully feed their memories when someday they might lose you."

Mackie and Beatriz currently star together in the Peacock original series Twisted Metal, a post-apocalyptic action comedy adapted from the popular PlayStation game of the same name.
