No one is more excited about Channing Tatum returning as Gambit to the Marvel Cinematic Universe than Tatum.**

During his Oct. 9 appearance on *The Tonight Show*, the *Roofman* star gushed about making his *Deadpool & Wolverine* debut as Remy LeBeau, a.k.a. Gambit, the Louisianan mutant with the ability to charge objects full of kinetic energy, and teased that fans are not ready for what *Avengers: Doomsday* directors Anthony and Joe Russo have up their sleeve for the upcoming MCU entry.**

While Tatum quipped that he couldn't say much because "I think they put a chip in me so that if I say something stupid, I would just start getting seizures," the actor acknowledged that there's a lot riding on *Doomsday* with Marvel fans' high expectations.

"They have to exceed their expectations every single time, and I was like, 'How are they going to do it? How are they going to surpass the last thing they did,'" he told host Jimmy Fallon. "My first question after reading the script was, 'How are you guys going to pull this story off?'"

But Tatum said any concerns he might have had were quelled after reading the script.

Considering how wild Tatum's MCU entry was, it's a feat to leave him astounded.

The card-slinging mutant made his much-anticipated debut in last year's *Deadpool & Wolverine *alongside a star-studded cast of guest stars, including Chris Evans as his *other* famous Marvel role Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Aaron Stanford as Pyro, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, and Wesley Snipes as Blade.

"I was freaking out, man. Like standing there on the set and looking around you and thinking, 'That's Wolverine, that's Blade,'" Tatum recalled to Fallon. "I get to play my favorite character... I was the kid who was throwing cards at friends in the living room. I always wanted to be an X-Man, so now to be in the Avengers, it is beyond my wildest dreams."

How Marvel finally got X-Men into the MCU with 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Patrick Stewart in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkholme/Mystique in X-Men: The Last Stand, Channing Tatum as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine

In *Doomsday*, Tatum's Gambit will get the chance to appear with several other stars bringing the X-Men to Marvel proper.

Patrick Stewart will reprise his Professor Xavier role for the second time in the MCU since *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness* alongside his former costars Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden — who all starred with Stewart in the *X-Men* film series of yesteryear.

Although the film hasn't officially been announced by the studio or scheduled for release, Marvel is also working on developing a new X-Men movie as part of the MCU lineup. Feige told the Omelete that it would likely fall sometime after *Secret Wars*.

So there's always a chance that Tatum's red-eyed bandit could be making a lot more appearances in the future!

*Avengers: Doomsday* is scheduled to open in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026. Watch Tatum chat with Fallon about his role in the video above.**
