Crow will serve double duty, also hosting the event that will feature more performers and celebrity participants announced in the coming weeks.

"The goal of Stand Up To Cancer has always been about working collaboratively to push cancer research forward so we could help patients as quickly as possible," said Katie Couric, the organization's co-founder, said in a statement. "Nearly two decades later, it's incredibly gratifying and inspiring to see the impact of this research. Bringing the show to Nashville will infuse new energy and excitement into our mission. There's still so much work to do and every dollar makes a difference—especially to the families who are counting on novel approaches and therapies as they face the challenges that often accompany a cancer diagnosis."

The special will be available on more than 30 different platforms, including all four of the major U.S. broadcast networks, which are donating one hour of commercial-free primetime.

For Crow, the cause is personal. In 2006, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

"It was a real game changer," the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter told Parade in 2016. "I've looked at my life differently from that moment forward."

After undergoing a lumpectomy and several radiation sessions, the singer changed her diet and learned how to better deal with stress. She's also worked to make people aware of early detection. "Early detection saves lives. It certainly did for me," Crow said.

Although Parton has been a long-time advocate for cancer research, who has donated millions of dollars and participated in fundraisers for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, she has not publicly disclosed any personal experience with cancer.
