It's been a very strange start to the 2026-27 NFL season for the Los Angeles Rams , who are currently sitting in fourth place in the NFC West despite expectations that they'd be the best team in the NFL to start the year.
The Rams haven't been able to get much going on either side of the football, though the offense has certainly been the bigger problem.
After winning the MVP award last season, quarterback Matthew Stafford hasn't exactly played great football.
Not that everything is Stafford's fault on offense, but he's thrown just 11 touchdowns and six interceptions in the first six weeks of the season.
To make matters worse, Stafford could reach some unfortunate NFL history over the next few weeks if the Rams keep playing this way.
"Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford lost his fourth start of the season on Sunday. When he loses his fifth, he'll reach a career milestone he'd prefer not to have," Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio wrote , H/T PFT.
"Stafford has a career record of 122-122-1 as a starting quarterback. Those 122 losses are the second-most in NFL history, behind only Vinny Testaverde, who went 90-123-1. With another loss, Stafford will tie Testaverde for the most ever, and with two more losses, Stafford has the record all to himself."
The Rams and Stafford have much more to worry about than him taking over for the most starts in NFL history as a quarterback and still losing, but it does show that the start of his career certainly wasn't kind to him with the Detroit Lions . Things have obviously improved in Los Angeles, winning a Super Bowl back in 2022.
For now, however, the focus is on winning games in 2026, and the Rams haven't done that.
