On April 1,The Sunreported thatPrincess Anne's son had to get "special permission" from the vicar of the church where he will marryHarriet Sperlingthis summer because they were both married before.
The outlet cited sources close to the couple in making the claim, in a report published on the same day that Peter, 48, and Harriet confirmed their wedding date.
"They have the vicar's permission," a source toldThe Sunabout the couple getting the green light.
Peter got divorced from his first wife, Autumn Kelly, in 2021, and Harriet was previously married to a fitness instructor, the outlet said.
On Wednesday, Peter and Harriet unveiled their wedding date and details in a statement shared with PEOPLE.
"Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today announced their wedding date," the couple's spokesperson, Gerard Franklin, said in a statement.
"The summer wedding will take place at All Saints Church, Kemble, Cirencester on Saturday 6th June 2026 in a private ceremony," it continued. "Both families have been informed jointly of the wedding date by invitation."
"Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have also been informed of the announcement," the statement said, revealing thatKing Charles,Queen Camilla,Prince WilliamandKate Middletonhave all been notified. "Further details will be announced in due course."
The All Saints Church is in Gloucestershire, where both Peter and Harriet grew up. According toHello!magazine, the church is also just 20 minutes from Gatcombe Park, Princess Anne's estate, where they live.

Entrepreneur Peter is Princess Anne's son with her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips, and the marriage will be his second. He married Canadian-born Autumn in 2008, and they went on to welcome daughters Savannah and Isla, who are now 15 and 14. The pairannounced their separationin February 2020 andfinalized their divorcein June 2021, making Peter the first royal family member of his generation to get divorced.
He then dated Lindsay Wallace, the daughter of an oil tycoon, for three years before his spokespersonannounced their split in April 2024.

In August 2025, a little more than a year after they took their relationship public, Peter and Harriet announced their engagement.
"Mr. Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, and Ms. Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr. Rupert Sanders and Mrs. Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement," a statement issued for the couple by their spokesperson said then.
"Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement. Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement," it continued, adding that no date had yet been set for the wedding.
Peter popped the question with a diamond ring by Pragnall,a British jeweler linked to the jewelry house that made his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth's engagement ring.
