It's Christmas in January for those who love streaming action movies, from a Ben Affleck/Matt Damon cop thriller to a couple of remade cult classics.

Netflix, Peacock, Hulu, Disney+ and Paramount+have some good stuff cooking with their new films. There are fresh takes on the 1980s flicks "The Running Man" and "The Toxic Avenger," a sequel to the horror hit "The Black Phone," and even a somewhat sexy scary movie for some couch-ready counterprogramming.

Here are 10 new and notable moviesyou can stream right now:

'Black Phone 2'

Young Finn (Mason Thames) was kidnapped by the nefarious Grabber (Ethan Hawke) and managed to kill the masked menace in the first "Phone." Years later, Finn and psychic younger sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) have to face him again – from beyond the grave – at a winter camp once attended by their mom in the enjoyably freaky horror sequel.

In what's probably best described as a slow-burn, messed-up dark horror comedy, a couple (Maddie Hasson and Marco Pigossi) shows up to a mansion they rented for a romantic weekend. So has a pair of strange lovers (Alex Roe and Andra Nechita). The situation goes from awkwardly playful to hilariously gruesome amid cold-blooded mind games.

'Good Night, and Good Luck: Live from Broadway'

George Clooney in

George Clooneydirected the 2005 "Good Luck" movie but takes the stage – literally! − in this filmed production of last year'sBroadway show. Clooney scored a Tony Award nomination for his role in the historical play as Edward R. Murrow, the 1950s CBS journalist who takes on the blacklisting tactics of Sen. Joseph McCarthy.

'People We Meet on Vacation'

Emily Bader stars as Poppy and Tom Blyth is Alex in the romantic comedy

The romantic comedyadapting the Emily Henry novelis a breezy affair, at least until it takes a serious turn downwind. Poppy (Emily Bader) and Alex (Tom Blyth) are unlikely college best friends who go on vacations together – usually with high jinks involved – every summer until significant others and their feelings for one another complicate matters.

'The Rip'

In Joe Carnahan's twisty action flick, A-list BFFsMatt Damonand Ben Affleck lead a crew of Miami cops on a cash seizure at a cartel stash house. Rather than the expected several thousand, they instead find a massive $20 million, sparking a night full of shady shenanigans as team members decide whether to do the right thing or keep the money.

'The Running Man'

Game show host Bobby T (Colman Domingo, right) lets Ben Richards (Glen Powell) rant in the action thriller

Edgar Wright's redois a more faithful version of theStephen King novel, and Glen Powell takes the old Arnold Schwarzenegger role as a guy who has to survive the world's deadliest game show. It's a lively, satirical stab at modern-day reality TV, scary big-brother technology, cultural dissension and rampant income inequality.

'Strange Harvest'

Serial killer Mr. Shiny (Jessee Clarkson) returns to torment California cops in the horror movie

Equal parts slasher flick and faux documentary, the horror movie follows the detectives investigating the return of serial killer Mr. Shiny, who left a gory trail of victims in the past and is back to torment cops with another murder spree. It's perfect for those who adore Netflix true-crime shows and some freaky cosmic terror.
